Super Savings Saturday: My Half Gallon of Milk!

Okay...are you ready for this? Here is what I bought this week:

Pretty unusual week for me, eh? As you recall from last week, I had a measly $1.14 remaining in my grocery budget going into this week. My goal for the Eat From The Pantry Challenge was to only spend $35 total for 3 weeks. You can go here to see my progress from week to week during this challenge. So did I stick to it? Well...almost.

I spent $1.99 on the Soymilk. We usually buy regular skim milk (every 1-2 weeks). I was trying to s-t-r-e-t-c-h that $1.14, though! A gallon of milk would have cost us over $3. I had heard from a little birdie that the 8th Continent soymilk was only $2.99 at Publix, so I sent my hubby across the street with $2/1 coupon in hand. That would enable us to come in right under budget, and still have milk for our 1 remaining box of cereal for the week. He came back, and the receipt said $1.99 after the coupon. I groaned and said, "Oh no! I went over our Pantry Challenge budget by $.85!" He just laughed.

In the end, here are my spending totals for the last 3 weeks of January during this challenge:

Week 1 (Jan 10th - 16th): $26.49
Week 2 (Jan 17th - 23rd): $7.37
Week 3 (Jan 24th - Jan 30th): $1.99

Overall, I spent a total of $35.85 on groceries. Like I said, I'm $.85 over the budget, but hey...I still saved $69.15 of my grocery budget over the past 3 weeks by simply not spending! That should put us back on track financially from when we overspent while our friends were here.

And for the entire month of January: We spent a total of $77.16 out of our grocery budget. We saved $111.55 total.

Now I am participating in the Freezer Cooking Weekend with many other bloggers. I started cooking up a storm today, and I've had so much fun! I'll be updating you on all of that over the next couple of days. (In the meantime, feel free to follow me via Twitter. I'm updating my cooking progress by the hour.)

Posts To Come:
  • What I learned from the Eat From The Pantry Challenge
  • A view into my pantry and freezer
  • How I went on a grocery shopping spree, and totally blew it! (I even hit up the dreaded Walmart). I am so ashamed. Let me give you a hint -- I spent double one week's grocery budget. Oops. (It happens)
  • My first-time experience with freezer cooking, and my thoughts on the subject (in regards to budget and time-efficiency).
  • Some recipes I want to share with you (some that were not linked to in my cooking plan for this weekend).
  • A final progress report on what I accomplished this weekend -- meals that I was able to stock away in the freezer for later!
Good Night!

What About You: Got any thoughts in response to all this? Budgeting, menu planning, grocery shopping, your savings for the week, freezer cooking? Feel free to share!

Trop 50 Orange Juice at Publix

I just did my grocery shopping trip for next week (Hey! I actually got to the store before Tuesday this sale week.) While there, I noticed a sweet deal on OJ! The Trop 50 Orange Juice was on sale for 99 cents. That's an incredible price. It is usually close to $3 or $4. Just wanted to give you a heads up, though. It's hard to get that price on OJ, even with a BOGO and 2 coupons.

I looked up coupons for it. There are some floating around out there - peelies, tearpads, and such. But there aren't any printables or insert coupons. It will just be luck if you can find a peelie or tearpad!

But if not, still a great price. I grabbed one. =)

Freezer Cooking Day: My Plan For Tomorrow!

When I saw that Money Saving Mom and Life As Mom were teaming up to bring us a weekend freezer cooking day, I was so excited! You see, I have been wanting to do one of these Freezer Cooking Days for months now. They usually take place during the work week, since most of the mommy bloggers are stay-at-home-moms. This time, though, they wanted to give everybody a chance to join in (even those of us who unfortunately have to work all week).

This is something brand new to me. I have never in my life tried freezer cooking! Now, let me just be honest - I'm not attempting the whole "Once A Month Cooking" thing. No way am I just going to dive into this thing and make an entire month's worth of meals! I'm just trying it out tomorrow.

Here's what I am planning on cooking and freezing tomorrow:

*Meals*
*Baking - Breads, Breakfasts, and Desserts*
So much for starting out small. That was overwhelming just to type out! Haha! I think I can do it, though. I am going into it with a master plan. I am trying to be very organized about it. I wrote all my ingredients down and went shopping tonight (as part of next month's grocery budget, since I'll still be finishing up the last few meals of Eat From The Pantry over the weekend). Tonight, before going to bed, I plan on writing up a detailed plan of numbered steps to follow tomorrow.

I'll have to let you know how it goes. I'm going to try to update as much as possible tomorrow while I'm cooking. I plan on sharing recipes and pictures! I'll try to get you some of the recipes that don't have links (if I have time - hehe).

Tomorrow I will be bringing you my final Super Savings Saturday for the month of January, and you'll get to see whether or not I stuck to my goals for the Eat From The Pantry Challenge. (uh oh).

Ready or not...here we go!

What About You: Would you like to join all of us in the Freezer Cooking Weekend? It's not too late! You can comment or link up over at either of the blogs I linked to above! Or feel free to leave your comments on this post.

SoBe BOGO Coupon Has Returned!

There is a brand new printable coupon for SoBe Lifewater. This one comes around every so often, and it's one of my faves! It's a buy one get one free coupon.

Where to buy these? Well, I usually use my coupons at CVS. They have buy one get one free sales on SoBe Lifewater quite often, so I try to wait for that. If you pair the BOGO coupon with the BOGO sale, you're talkin' FOUR free Sobe drinks! (Print the coupon twice per computer).

Happy Savings! Oh and just so you know...these drinks are definitely worth trying.

What About You: Like this coupon? =)

Thanks, KC Penny Pinchin' Mama!

Working Behind The Scenes...

You might have noticed that I've been a little slow on the deals lately, and not posting nearly as much.

I am currently working behind the scenes to get my blog transferred over to a new server, host, and domain!

Once completed, the blog will be brand new, with lots of great features, and I think it will be much more user-friendly and easier to navigate.

Until then, I'm working like crazy to get it all done. It's a lot of work! My best friend and husband are both helping me (they're both good at computers and design, so I'm lucky).

Just wanted to let you know what's going on. I haven't deserted you. Just have a lot going on at one time. Thanks for your patience...

What About You: What features would you like to see on the new blog? What would improve it?

CVS Bonus Pack Deals (Good Through 2/14)

Finally...I'm posting these Bonus Pack Deals. So sorry for the delay on these! I've just been sooo busy posting all those other great deals.

Basically, every year CVS puts out "Bonus Pack Deals" where specific products in the store have larger quantities in one package, and these special bonus packs have special ECB offers attached to them at the register. You can go here to see an example of one of these deals I picked up on toilet paper at CVS a couple of weeks ago.

These Bonus Pack deals are valid through 2/14, so you have a couple of weeks to grab them! There has been some confusion on what the limit per extra care card is for these deals. However, it seems like most people have experienced a limit of 6 per card, with a limit of 3 per transaction. Be careful to make sure you have the exact right product that is producing the ECBs. I honestly have only tried the Cottonelle deal, and it worked beautifully...

Here are the absolute best Bonus Pack deals that I see:

Buy 1 Oust Air Sanitizer at $3.99, get back $3 ECB
Buy one get one free coupon from 1-3-10 SS
*Use the coupon to pay only $3.99 out of pocket, and get back $6 ECB! It's a huge moneymaker!

Buy a 6-count box of Soy Joy at $6, get back $6 ECB
*FREE after ECB!

Buy 1 Glade Fabric & Air at $3.99, get back $3 ECB
*Pay only $.99 after ECB!
*Get $5 back with THIS REBATE, when you purchase 3!

Buy 1 Johnson & Johnson Head-To-Toe Wash at $4.49, get back $2 ECB
$1/1 printable coupon
$1/1 from 1-3-10 RP

*Pay only $1.49 after a coupon and ECB!

Buy Cheerios (plain or honey nut) at $7.99, get back $4 ECB

*Pay only $2.99 after 1 coupon and ECB!

Buy 1 Cottonelle 20 pack at $12.88, get back $4 ECB

$.25/1 from 12-29-09 PG (expires 1-31-10)
*Pay only $8.74 after coupon and ECB!

Buy 1 Fiber One Bars 2-box Pack at $6.99, get back $3 ECB

My Sweet Husband!

Have I mentioned how great my husband is? I just have to brag on him a little more...

Yesterday morning, I had an emotional breakdown. I was getting ready for work, and I just became hysterical. I vented to Kyle...saying, "I just can't do everything. I can't get it all done! There is not enough time in the day for me to work a full-time job, commute 45 minutes each way, blog, keep God and family my #1 priority, keep the house tidy, get the laundry done, cook, clean, workout and stay healthy, the list goes on...and that's just what I have to do. There are a million other things on the To-Do-List, not to mention the things I might enjoy doing - such as relaxing every now and then..."

You get the picture...

I went to work, and came home...to yet another transformed home. Yep - he cleaned the whole house again! Dishes, vacuuming, laundry, and all. He did ten loads of laundry, people!

I am so thankful. I couldn't keep this blog going without his love and support...

You've probably guessed what my dominant love language is by now - yep, acts of service.

What About You: How do you prioritize and balance your time, to keep from going crazy? Any suggestions or hints?
